The VS-1 is based on the classic design of the iconic Oberheim™ OB-X Synthesizer. The primary objective of the VS-1 was to preserve the vintage sound of the classic, and to keep the interface clean & simple. The DIY kit includes all of the custom parts needed to build a VS-1 – including the Enclosure, PCB’s, potentiometers and hard-to-find connectors and hardware. In addition, all surface mount components are preinstalled, including a completely assembled DAC Board and Microcontrontoller module. In addition to the VS-1 Synthesizer DIY Kit contents, the generic parts need to be sourced. The majority of these parts can be purchased from Mouser & Digi-key. However, there some additional rare parts that need to be sourced form other vendors. See the VS-1 Synthesizer DIY BOM for specifics. For additional details see the VS-1 DIY parts procurement video.
